Perfection and Unity. I don’t know anything that says it so clearly, as what Jesus prayed: “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” [John 17:21-23 KJV]
That perfect unity happens when we are in Him, and He in us, so that we are one with Him. We think like He thinks. We love what He loves. We hate what He hates. We feel what He feels. We see through His eyes. Our heart beats with His.
Then, naturally, all those who are one with God, melted into Him, are one with each other, and think alike, see alike, and have the same heart. And it all happens like God desires it… without a superficial unity, without compromise, without force or compulsion. Just loving God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength; and loving their brother as themselves. It’s a perfection that comes from love and humility… first of all, and above all, toward Him. And then it won’t fail to draw others into that same unity of heart and purpose.
