(2) My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
(3) My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Hint #1: Two ministered wisdom, encouragement, and life; one ministered discouragement, condemnation, and death.
Hint #2: God’s wrath was kindled against one, and God said “Ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right.”
Hint #3: One is in Proverbs, one in Hebrews, and one in Job.
OK… One is Paul, the apostle; one is Solomon, king of Israel; and one is Eliphaz, the Temanite, one of Job’s friends.
Now… can you tell which quote is whose? Can you see how much it matters in what spirit the “truth” is spoken?
To check it out, see Job 5:17, Proverbs 3:11-12, and Hebrews 12:5.
