I need correction only when I’m wrong, or “incorrect”. But I love correction because I really, really want to be pleasing (correct) in God’s sight. As much as it hurts to have the Lord show me I did wrong or thought wrong, I’m so thankful that He’s dealing with me as a son, and changing me to be more like Him. How much worse would it be to go through life thinking I was right, thinking all I needed was “improvement”, and not know until I stood before Him, that I had been misrepresenting Jesus, and His Word, and hurting people He loves? There’s no going back… no do-overs then. The consequences are eternal.I thank God for “continuous improvement”. And I also thank Him for correction and chastisement. I am His son, now! But I want to “be in subjection to the Father of spirits”, and be a “partaker of His holiness”. (Check out Hebrews 12)
Yes, God can be delighted in a son that is “incorrect”, as long as that son is willing to receive correction and chastening.
Proverbs 3:11-12 says, “My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of His correction: For whom the Lord loveth He correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”
If we don’t hold back on God, He won’t hold back on us.
