Plain. Simple. Heart to Heart.

Why Such A High Price?

The price Jesus paid declares your worth! God would not have given His only begotten Son; and Jesus Christ would not have given His life… if He didn’t think that you were worth that great price. We all NEED to understand that!

But the fact that He HAD to pay such a great price, shows what a horrible, wretched, hopeless state we were in!

You can love a person enough to be willing to die for them, but you won’t die for them, UNLESS their life is at stake. Someone you love can be worth so much to you, that you would give every dime you have to ransom them from kidnappers, but you wouldn’t pay that same price to buy them a dozen roses.

Jesus didn’t pay that ultimate price to give us ease and entertainment! He didn’t suffer and die to save us from eternal boredom! He didn’t take the bombardment of hell, just to give you a care-free, fun, prosperous life!

Yes, the price He paid has bought for us a wonderful, abundant life… now and for eternity. But that unimaginable price was REQUIRED to be paid, because we were LOST, and doomed to HELL! He gave ALL, because there was NO other (cheaper) way to SAVE us from eternal damnation!

If we could have been saved and redeemed for a lesser price, then God was a fool for paying such an outrageous price. God is NOT a fool. He KNOWS the true cost of sin! (If only we knew, like He knows.)

Yes, the price declares our worth, but it also declares the terrible penalty of sin… eternal torment in hell… forever separated from anything good… in a place prepared for the devil and his angels… indescribably horrible… that NEVER ends!

Jesus came to SAVE us! To save us from our SINS. Receiving salvation is simple. We are saved by faith, not by understanding. But, you don’t fully understand what ‘saved’ means, until you see what you’re saved FROM!

Oh, that we would all get a revelation of the price Jesus paid! What love for God would burn in our hearts! What awesome holy fear of God! What realization of God’s immeasurable love and mercy toward us! And what overwhelming compassion for those who are lost, or drifting away from their Savior who bought them. Amen.
