Plain. Simple. Heart to Heart.

The Pope said pets go to heaven?

Well, that’s what the media was reporting recently, and they were really having a heyday with it. Some called it a great doctrinal shift. Others got into speculating whether that included cats, or snakes, or even spiders and flies and mosquitoes. Some joked that they wouldn’t even want to go to heaven if it included cats. Pretty funny stuff. I even chimed in on the mocking. Hey, the Pope is a good target.

Then I read that the Pope said that he didn’t really say that, …at least not how the media was reporting. Well, I know enough first-hand about how the media can misreport, and distort a story… sometimes with malice, sometimes unintentionally. So I quit reading right there. I may never know what he said, or didn’t say, and I really don’t care.

What I do care about is that my lips are pure, and every word I speak is true. Could I have been guilty of bearing false witness? So I repented, and asked the Lord to forgive me. Didn’t I have something more profitable to talk about anyway? Don’t get any ideas that I’m going soft on the great harlot. I just want to live a life so pure and upright that people can see the difference between a Christian walking in the steps of Jesus, and a person whose religion is vain.

James 1:27 says, “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”

I am serious about wanting to be like Jesus. I don’t ever want to be found guilty in the eyes of the Lord, of putting words in another man’s mouth, or distorting his intent. And doesn’t it make sense that we should talk about the same things that the Bible says we should think about?

Philippians 4:8 [KJV] “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
And TALK about these things.
