THE 48th YEAR TRIPLE HARVEST
Would you be content with a normal harvest, after you saw God make a triple harvest?
In Leviticus 25, the Lord lays out a plan, a commandment for the children of Israel, establishing sabbath years. Vs.3-5: “Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.”
Then, after 7 sabbath years (49 years) comes the 50th year, what God calls the jubilee. Vs.11: “A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.”
So, it looks like the 49th year they don’t sow nor reap, because it’s the sabbath year, and the 50th year they don’t sow nor reap, because it’s the jubilee. So how are they going to make it? What are they going to eat?
Vs. 20-21: “And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase: Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for THREE years.”
Wow! What would that look like? A stalk of corn that would have 9 ears, instead of 3? Wheat that would have a 12” head instead of 4”? Think of those grapes. Three times as big? or three times as many? Maybe 3 harvests in one growing season? What CAN’T God do?!
Then comes the 51st year, and the 52nd, and the 53rd. NORMAL crops. But needs are met. The 49th and 50th years show a man’s faith and obedience. The following years reveal a man’s love for God. Does he love God enough to be content with what God gives? Secure and content, because he belongs to God, and God is taking care of him? Or complaining instead, that God is holding back? Does he have the peace of knowing that God is his provider? Or is he troubled with the unrest that comes from greed, and the love of material gain… Striving to repeat that triple harvest on his own?
How amazingly comforting to serve a God who can triple your harvest any time He needs to or wants to! And He absolutely WILL, when He promises to! That is real peace. That’s what it really means to be rich. Satisfied. Content. Thankful. Praising God.
So, how about if you have an absolutely awesome week, with God doing great miracles in your life, and pouring out His Spirit on you, and giving you great revelations… and the next week is… ‘normal’… maybe only a third as great? You might think something is wrong. Sure, that’s a possibility. But more likely, you just need to keep your hand on the plow… and sow for another harvest. God is faithful, and there’s another ‘jubilee” up ahead.
