I love to talk about pressing, pushing, asking, seeking, knocking. And I love to hear it preached. It’s “Amen” all the way. It’s only natural that you want to talk about something that’s worked for you. For me personally, it has been a very major factor in a huge breakthrough. And it’s something other people need to hear and understand, and apply to their lives, so they too, can be blessed. So, of course, I want to talk about it.
Maybe I even talk about it so much, that I start to seem like the guy whose only tool is a hammer, so everything look like a nail. Can’t let that happen.
I was thinking about that yesterday, when I listed all those other ways to receive from the Lord. It takes them all, to receive everything the Lord has for us. They’re all necessary. They are all linked together, and should just flow together as needed.
If I try to struggle and press into something that is a free gift, I frustrate myself, and the giver. I could even be forfeiting the gift itself. Whatever God calls a gift… Just receive it.
If He calls it a reward, then get busy, give it all you’ve got, and do whatever it takes.
If He calls it a harvest, then plant, water, fertilize, and be patient.
Sometimes He’ll even say just calm down, stand still, and rest. And watch God move.
Yes, we need to understand the work, and the push, and the fight. We also need to understand the trusting, the patience, the resting.
We need understand what’s required OF us, AND what’s already been done FOR us, by our Saviour and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
