For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. [2 Corinthians 8:9 KJV]
That’s a popular verse with those who would set their sights on earthly riches. But, if you’re aiming for material wealth, you’re aiming way too low.
I want to be rich, how He was rich, before He became poor!
When was He rich? What kind of riches did He once have, that He gave up, to become poor?
In John 17:5, Jesus prayed, “ And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”
I want the RICHES OF GLORY that He had with the Father, before He laid aside that glory to become flesh and blood, and walked as a man on this dusty earth! And because He humbled Himself to that “poverty”, I can have His GLORY!
