Plain. Simple. Heart to Heart.

Gray M&M’s, and “God Never Said…”

In order to know for sure that someone has never said something, you either need to have heard every word they’ve ever said, or you need to know them personally, so well, that you know they would never say that.

If I open a bag of M&M’s, I don’t know for sure that there are NOT any gray ones in there, until I take every one of them out of the bag, or take out enough till I do find a gray one. (Yeah, they have made some gray ones.) Or… if I was in charge of the M&M factory, I might be able to say without opening the bag, that there are no M&M’s of a certain color in the bag, because the factory has never made M&M’s that color.

Yet I have heard people take a few scriptures from the Bible, and say “God never said”, based on a sample of what He DID say. That would be like pulling a few M&M’s out of the bag, and saying, “There are no gray M&M’s in this bag.” We need to know the whole Word of God. And to know the whole Word of God, we need to read it, study it, live in it… ALL of it, and not close our eyes to any of it. What God has said is important, but with so many varying doctrines being taught, it’s also important to know what He hasn’t said.

We need to know God so personally, that we know, not only what He has or hasn’t said, but also what He would or wouldn’t say. How? Study…Yes, but more than that. CONTINUE in His Word. ABIDE in Him. Get alone with God. Be humble. Listen. Do.
