God has done amazing things in His church all over the world in the last several years. But His ways are so much higher than man’s, that often man can’t figure out what’s going on, until it’s done. This has been particularly true locally in the last year and a half. He has done great things beyond anything that anyone could have imagined. And He’s NOT DONE! It is absolutely exciting to think what could be next!
As radical changes began to break out a while back, the Lord gave me a word that has kept me positive, excited, and expectant through it all. God is still moving in unexpected ways, and He doesn’t want anyone to get stuck in a rut, and miss out on the new opportunities He is creating.
I believe He would like me now to share this word of encouragement for all His people.
Basically, it’s a word of God’s great love. This is a day of the outpouring of God’s love. Yes, a day of wrath and judgment will come, but today is a time of God’s patience, forbearance, mercy, and love! He is jealous for His precious little ones, and He is shaking what needs to be shaken, as He sends forth His Word to destroy the lies that have kept His children confused and defeated.
In a time when everything around you is shaking and changing, it is SO comforting to know that an almighty God who LOVES you is IN CONTROL!
In the day of all the confusion at the tower of Babel (See Genesis 11:1-9), it looked like chaos and disaster to just about everyone… except God. He was the one who confounded their languages, and CREATED the ‘confusion’. But He wasn’t the least bit confused. He was working His plan. Only man was confused, because he didn’t see God’s plan.
(A man operating outside of God’s plan can cause a different kind of confusion that God doesn’t ‘author’. Satan’s lies can also create confusion. It is SO very important to know when it’s from God, and when it isn’t.)
God had commanded both Adam (Genesis 1:28) and Noah (Genesis 9:1), to “be fruitful, and multiply, and fill up the earth”. But man wasn’t going with God’s plan. They had come up with their own ‘better’ plan… to settle in one place, stick together, build a city and a tower to reach heaven, and make a name for themselves. It was ‘order’, but not God’s order.
God knows the end from the beginning. He sees the BIG picture. Everything He has planned and promised, He WILL fulfill. God’s word is never threatened by anything man does or doesn’t do. God’s ‘move’ is not in danger of being stopped. He is not worried about how this is all going to end up. He is the eternal GOD!
Man is pretty tiny compared to God. His view isn’t all that clear from his lowly vantage point. So, unless man can get some insight and perspective from the great Creator and Lord of the universe, he’s going stay pretty much confused… all the time.
But God doesn’t want His people confused. So He gives His servants a glimpse of His plan… occasionally even a look into the future. That’s wonderful, but no man sees it ALL!
More often, God just reassures us that He’s got it; and pleads with us to take His hand, and trust Him. Don’t try to figure it out. Just listen closely for the Shepherd’s voice, and you’ll be safe. Where He’s taking you is really, REALLY good!
There have been times in God’s church, when turmoil and confusion swept in, and it appeared that the enemy was destroying the work of God. Sometimes, in some places, it WAS the enemy, working through pride, envy, and selfish ambition. But other times, it was actually God destroying the work of the enemy. Unless you could see it from God’s perspective, it would be hard to know what was going on. It could be troubling, confusing, and scary.
As at the tower of Babel, God was not creating enmity between brethren; or division for the sake of division. He was moving man forward in His big plan. God is not opposed to unity. He was not forbidding communication and cooperation between nations and tongues. He did not create ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ languages. The geographical location was not the problem. The ‘bricks and mortar’ were not cursed. (They could even be reused.) He was simply shutting down man’s out-of-order religious work. In the process, the prideful unity that those people tried so hard to hold on to, is exactly what they lost. The Lord scattered them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
It was not God’s intent, however, for all of them to abandon the plain of Shinar, and leave it uninhabited. Nor did He want them to go somewhere else, and exalt their new name and tongue, and build another city, and another tower. His plan was really for a unity of purpose, under God; that though they be spread abroad, they could bring their diversities of resources together for the increase of everyone. There were lands beyond with awesome beauty and abundant natural resources, where they could live and prosper. They could still learn each other’s languages, and trade with each other, and increase the wealth of all. But first they had to lose their pride, and independence, and self-sufficiency. They had to see themselves as just a small part of a great big interconnected world, where they were to ‘be fruitful, and multiply, and fill up the earth.”
What God has in store for His church in this time is SO much greater than anything in the past that we could ever try to hold on to! God has broken down walls, and scattered His people… not to destroy anyone, but so that the wealth of His kingdom can flow in from the far corners of the earth; and spread out to every nation, tribe, and language. This is the work of our heavenly Father who LOVES each and every one! He wants every single one to be FREE!
So it is today, with the abundant riches of God’s Word. God is breaking down the isolating walls of pride, independence, and a man-made unity; so that His church… whether they stayed in the plain of Shinar, or moved halfway around the globe… they can share with each other the treasures of His kingdom.
God has amazing, glorious things in store! Hold tight to His hand. Listen to His voice. Be humble. Align your plans and desires with His. He is fulfilling His Word! Surely, ALL the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord!
