“Every Day With Jesus Is Better Than The Day Before.”
True or False? Fact or Fantasy? Is it one of those lines that make for good song lyrics, but just doesn’t hold up in the real world?
Seriously… there’s no sense in believing, or singing, something that really isn’t true… even if it does make you feel good for a moment.
So what does “better” mean? More fun? More money? More success? More comfort? More recognition? More power? More immediate answers to prayer? More ‘feeling God’s presence’? More anointing? Yeah, you could say all of those things are desirable, and more would be better. But can you really expect those things to increase each and every day?
No. The stark truth is that you cannot expect all those to increase, and get ‘better’ every single day… with Jesus, or without Jesus.
BUT… every day really CAN be better than the day before, IF you first disconnect all these superficial things from your idea of what’s ‘better’. One of the first benefits you’ll see, is that you don’t feel BAD when one of those things DECREASES. You see a bigger picture, and you know you’re gaining strength and wisdom, and getting closer to the Lord, even when the surface stuff takes a twist in the wrong direction.
Romans 8:35-39 says, “35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
You can get to the point where you see everything, even the bad stuff, as another reason to draw closer to God. And that’s good!
We know that He’s with us, and we’re with Him. Together… more than conquerors. And nothing can separate us!
Jesus is our pattern, so when you walk with Jesus, you can expect your life to be as ‘up & down’ as His was. All alone, tempted in the wilderness one day, and praised by the multitudes the next. Your disciples causing you to leap for joy one day, and letting you down the next. Thousands of people walking miles to hear you and be healed one day, and then a few days later, nobody even wants you in their town.
Yet, I’m quite sure that Jesus would still say that every day with His Father was better than the day before! It’s all about the ‘WITH’!
Yes, every day WITH Jesus, really IS better than the day before! WITH Him is the key. It’s walking with Him. Talking with Him. Eating with Him. Going with Him wherever He goes. Even to His secret hideaways. Close. Personal. Communion.
Like Jesus prays in John 17: ” 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.” [John 17:21-24 KJV]
In and with. MORE of that is definitely BETTER! And THAT is exactly what HE is longing for, and praying for!
